For Aramco, sustainability is a major strategy. We see the solution as technology.

Carbon capture and sequestration is one of those technologies. We are converting Jafurah gas, with carbon capture, into 2 million tons of hydrogen per year — low-carbon hydrogen, blue hydrogen.

We are converting much of that to ammonia to transport and export around the world.

Aramco, specifically, produces the lowest amount of emissions. With each barrel of oil, we produce about 10.7 kilograms of CO2, and that’s all due to efficiency.

Our ultimate goal is to take the energy out in the form of hydrogen and to take the carbon out in the form of materials.

Many interesting materials are going to actually enable the energy transition.
