OUR PEOPLE VIDEO: How Renad Alqubale turned challenges into strength

Born prematurely after six months of pregnancy, Renad underwent multiple surgeries, losing part of her right leg and several fingers.

Yet, she never let her challenges define her.

Hello, my name is Renad. I'm 23 years old from Medina, and I've been working with Aramco in Dhahran for four years as an admin clerk. 

I'm here to share my story in hopes that it can help inspire others. 

I was born after only six months of pregnancy, so my childhood was full of challenges. 

I spent a lot of time in hospitals growing up, but those experiences made me stronger, more patient, and taught me to never give up.

When I was young, my mother and I were visiting my grandfather's house to see his art, and I was impressed by the wonderful art I saw hanging on his walls. 

The way the colors strongly express feelings and tell a story without a word being said inspired me.

When I was in the hospital, I felt overwhelmed from the surgeries, so my mother brought me a canvas and painting gear. 

I felt so excited and started drawing, but at first I was struggling because of my partial fingers and the pain I felt back in my leg.

I couldn't complete the painting I was working on, but my mom encouraged me to finish it. 

She said, "You are the only one who can complete the painting." 

So I tried using just two fingers instead of a brush.

I'm proud that I never gave up.

Inspired by my mother's words, I turned my challenges into motivation, and that motivation into action. 

I'm also proud to have been recognized nationally with my artwork receiving the Gold Award. 

And of course, joining the Aramco community has been one of my greatest sources of pride.

When I finished, I felt an incredible sense of achievement.

Overcoming that challenge made me realize how strong I was and that nothing could stop me.

Joining Aramco's ITC program made me very happy and proud. It was a dream come true. I felt that a new chapter of my life was beginning.

Joining the Company helped me discover new skills and become more confident. I found that I enjoy coordination, data analysis, and creating dashboards. 

Working with different teams and handling new tasks helped me grow, learn, and expand my skill set.

The message that I would like to say for young people with disabilities who are facing similar challenges, believe in yourself and never give up.
