Partnership And Legacy
Aramco helps build Houston’s World Cup legacy
Global June 16, 2026
An Aramco-branded 7-vs-7 soccer pitch is expected to support youth participation during the tournament and contribute to Houston’s World Cup legacy.
Community Champions
Global FIFA partnership takes shape locally through community engagement, youth participation, and a lasting football legacy.
As Houston prepares to host the FIFA World Cup 2026™, Aramco is helping bring the excitement of the world’s biggest sporting event beyond the stadium and into the community. Already a Major Worldwide Partner of FIFA, Aramco strengthened its local commitment in December 2025 when it was announced as an Official Houston World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter™, reinforcing a relationship with Houston that spans more than five decades and includes research partnerships, innovation initiatives, and community programs.
Houston will host seven FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches as part of the largest tournament in the competition’s history, featuring 48 teams, 104 matches, and 16 host cities across North America. Alongside the matches at NRG Stadium, the city will welcome visitors to the FIFA Fan Festival™ Houston, a month-long celebration of soccer, culture, entertainment, and community.
Open across all 34 tournament match days, the festival is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors and provide supporters with opportunities to watch matches on giant screens while enjoying interactive experiences, local performances, and football activities.
Bringing soccer closer to the community
Plans for the festival include an Aramco-branded 7-vs-7 soccer pitch. According to public reports, it is expected to be the only Aramco-branded pitch of its kind among U.S. host cities, creating a dedicated space for youth activities and community participation throughout the tournament. Organizers have also outlined plans for the pitch to be relocated for continued community use after the tournament.
The pitch aligns with the broader goals of Aramco’s FIFA partnership, which emphasizes expanding access to soccer, supporting youth participation, enhancing fan experiences, and contributing to initiatives that help communities engage with the sport. Through programs such as Football for Schools and other soccer-development initiatives, the partnership seeks to create opportunities that extend beyond major tournaments themselves.
A global event with a local impact
The Houston Host Committee has consistently emphasized that the tournament is about more than hosting matches. Legacy programs linked to FIFA World Cup 2026™ include youth soccer development, community engagement initiatives, and sustainability-focused projects designed to create long-term benefits for the city.
Announcing Aramco’s role as a Host City Supporter, Houston Host Committee President Chris Canetti said the company’s support would help deliver a world-class event while creating programs and initiatives that leave “a lasting legacy for Houston.”
Ahmed S. Al Mulhem, president of Aramco Americas, noted that the partnership reflects Aramco’s enduring commitment to Houston and its ambition to bring the excitement of the FIFA World Cup to the local level, helping unite and inspire the community.
That community focus will be visible throughout the Fan Festival. The event will showcase local performers, cultural programming, interactive attractions, and youth competitions, including activities connected to Houston’s Road to the Cup youth soccer initiative. Festival organizers have described the venue as a place where culture, community, and celebration come together, reflecting the diversity and energy of Houston itself.
Looking beyond the final whistle
For Houston, FIFA World Cup 2026™ represents an opportunity to welcome the world while investing in projects that continue serving the community long after the tournament concludes. Through its global partnership with FIFA and its support of Houston’s World Cup preparations, Aramco is helping connect those ambitions, contributing to experiences that celebrate soccer today while helping create opportunities for future generations of players and fans.
