My name is Nawaf Alghamdi, and I’m part of the Sustainable Transport Division within Saudi Aramco’s Research and Development Center.

How did the FUELCOM collaboration come about, and what makes it unique among research partnerships?

FUELCOM is a program we started back in 2010, and it’s a unique partnership we have with KAUST, where we take a holistic approach to mobility, because we look at what comes into the engine, we look at the operation of the engine itself, and we look at what comes out of the engine.

How is Aramco using its global scale and expertise to contribute to smarter transport solutions?

Aramco is leveraging its scale, global network, and expertise to deliver smarter transport solutions, including lower-carbon fuels. And our work in this area goes beyond motorsports.

What unique strengths does Aramco bring to the development of lower-emission mobility solutions?

We have research and development centers across the globe, but we also work with partners such as Horsepower Powertrains, who develop, produce, and sell adnvanced internal combustion engines and hybrid powertains. All these projects are part of our efforts to realize the ambition of scaling up lower-carbon fuels to the commercial level.

What role does mobility play in shaping your research priorities?

This historic moment with our partners at the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™️ team represents an opportunity to celebrate the dedication of the people at Aramco who are working on developing technological solutions for use within motorsports and the wider automotive industry.
