I am Ali Al Meshari, Aramco senior vice president of Technology Oversight and Coordination.
I am incredibly excited that F1 the movie is coming to screens around the world.
I wanted to briefly discuss how we at Aramco were part of making the action as real as possible.
In the world of motorsport, reality often eclipses fiction. Beneath the roaring engines and on-track drama lies a fundamental truth. Every team on the grid is not just racing; they are making history.
At Aramco, we are no different.
When you watch the movie, you will see how incredibly authentic it is, perfectly depicting the reality of racing life on and off the circuit.
But because only licensed pros can drive real F1 cars, Brad Pitt and Damson Idris took the wheel of F2 equivalents.
Behind the scenes, these F2 cars were already part of groundbreaking research.
Since 2023, they have run on lower-carbon fuel blends supplied by Aramco. And from 2025, Aramco is exclusively developing and supplying lower carbon fuel, meeting the FIA’s 100% sustainable fuel requirements to all F2 and F3 cars.
No special effects here, just real lower carbon fuel getting its big screen debut with the APXGP team.
The project is a vivid illustration of motorsport as an effective testbed.
Partnering with F2 and F3, we have set out to prove that even under the most intense conditions, dropping lower-carbon fuel can propel us forward without sacrificing performance or the thrill.
Testing this fuel on the racetrack allows us to learn how it performs and how it could inform the development of lower-carbon passenger vehicles’ fuels. These fuels are expected to emit lower life cycle carbon emission while maintaining performance.
The scientists and engineers in our dedicated research centers are helping validating what is possible in lower-carbon fuels. In collaboration with automotive partners, we are working toward a world where lower-carbon fuels could power every journey.
