Throughout his career, His Excellency strengthened cooperation between Aramco and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Dukhayyil passed away on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, at the age of 83.
Al-Dukhayyil served on Aramco’s Board of Directors for six years beginning in 1996 and contributed to the growth and development of the company, particularly through strengthening cooperation and partnership between Aramco and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM).
Throughout his distinguished career, Al-Dukhayyil contributed to advancing the Kingdom’s development, and served as the Dean of Faculty and Personnel Affairs at KFUPM, then Vice President for Academic Affairs. Between 1996 and 2004, he held the position of Rector.
Working with KFUPM, Al-Dukhayyil made pioneering achievements, developing talents and preparing students for the labor market. Among such milestones was the establishment of scientific chairs to focus on research, innovation, and creativity, leading to new academic departments, private sector partnerships, and helping to establish Dhahran Techno Valley.
In addition, Al-Dukhayyil was appointed a member of the Shura Council between 2006 and 2009, chaired the Board of Trustees of Gulf University, and served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Al-Yamamah University.
Al-Dukhayyil received his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California San Diego, and continued his studies, earning his master's and doctoral degrees in the same discipline from the University of Arizona. He has numerous books to his name in the field of behavioral therapy for children and adolescents.
In addition to his academic and professional career — and his significant achievements in helping to build the Kingdom — Al-Dukhayyil will be remembered for his humility, his love of people, his kindness, and his relentless pursuit of community growth and development.
