Omar S. Al-Husaini appointed senior vice president of Drilling and Workover

Omar S. Al-Husaini has been appointed senior vice president of Drilling and Workover, after serving as vice president of the Northern Area Drilling and Workover Operations since January 2023.

 

Previously, Al-Husaini had served as general manager of Drilling & Workover Operations, and acting vice president of Drilling and Workover.

 

Following assignments with Reservoir Engineering, he started his Aramco journey with the Drilling and Workover Organization. During his long career of 40 plus years with the Drilling and Workover Organization, Al-Husaini also carried out assignments with Production Engineering and Facilities and Planning, within the Upstream business line.

 

Al-Husaini held various leadership positions within the Drilling and Workover Organization, both in Engineering as well as Operations, and was involved in the development of major increments both for the oil and gas programs, as well as the first offshore gas programs in the Kingdom.

 

Al-Husaini joined the company in 1981 after completing his B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He subsequently earned an M.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from Kansas University in 1987.

 

Al-Husaini is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and has participated in numerous conferences as a keynote speaker, a panelist, as well as a conference chairman.

 

He received the 2005/2006 SPE Regional Technical Award for Drilling and Completions.

 

Al-Husaini has completed a number of leadership courses since joining the company, including the UEP-London Business School Senior Executive Program.
