Ali A. Al Meshari has been appointed senior vice president of Technology Oversight and Coordination, after serving as vice president and chief petroleum engineer since October 2021.

 

As head of Technology Oversight and Coordination, Al-Meshari oversees a broad portfolio of technologies and the company’s extensive Global Research Network spanning across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, to develop game changing technologies. Through the oversight of technology development activities, Al-Meshari leads the development of the company’s R&D efforts to support the company’s efforts to decarbonize operations, enhance the commercialization of the hydrocarbon value chain, pursue lower carbon products and solutions, and to foster a flourishing R&D ecosystem through localization. 

 

In addition to the oversight of the company’s technology development activities, Al-Meshari is responsible for the development of the company’s long-term Technology Strategy and Outlook Reports to support steering of the strategic direction of the company’s R&D investment activities, while also overseeing the company’s multibillion dollar Corporate Venture Capital arm, responsible for Global and Domestic investment activities in sustainability, diversified growth, and energy-related investment areas.

 

In addition to Al-Meshari’s expansive experience in technology development, he has also undertaken roles as Aramco’s general manager of Public Affairs. 

 

Al-Meshari joined the company in 1996 as a participant in the College Degree Program for Non-Employees (CDPNE) and earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He also holds an M.S. degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. degree from Texas A&M University, both in Petroleum Engineering.

 

Al-Meshari has completed a number of leadership development programs, including the Executive Program at INSEAD Business School in 2017, and the Saudi Aramco Management Development Seminar in 2018.
