The Ras Tanura Producing Department (RTPD) was recognized with a prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accident (RoSPA) Gold Award for its excellence in maintaining the highest standards in health and safety.

The department won a silver accolade in the health and safety category in 2022, but took the step up to gold at the recent 2023 event.

Every year, there are approximately 2,000 entries from more than 50 countries, with various industries and sectors represented.

The Gold Award, which is the highest standard, demonstrates RTPD’s continual drive for improvement, and its efforts in achieving its vision of being a global benchmark in excellence in safety, reliability, and environmental sustainability.

It also reinforces Aramco’s position as a leading organization globally in health and safety with superior safety management systems, advanced technologies, and remarkable people that uphold safety as a core value.

‘A momentous achievement’

Mansour F. Dossary, Ras Tanura Area Producing (RTAP) vice president, said, “Receiving the RoSPA Gold Award is a momentous achievement for RTPD at RTAP.

This recognition is not merely a symbol of prestige; it demonstrates our commitment to fostering a culture of safety, where every individual feels valued and protected.  It is a testament to the collective effort and dedication of our team members who have meticulously implemented robust health and safety protocols across our operations.

RTPD’s success came down to the department’s belief that health and safety cannot be an afterthought and that it must be ingrained in day-to-day operations — from the planning stage to project execution.

This called for a holistic approach that encompassed comprehensive risk management, regular training and awareness, site inspections, employee recognition, and the establishment of a proactive safety culture.

‘Immensely proud’

The award also highlighted the fact that everyone has a role to play in ensuring a safe working environment and that there is a collective responsibility to protect the wellbeing of colleagues.

Nader M. Saad, RTPD director, said, “I am immensely proud that our organization has been awarded the RoSPA Gold Award for outstanding performance in the health and safety.

“This milestone achievement is a direct result of the tireless efforts and unwavering commitment of every member of our dedicated team. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every individual who has contributed to this success.”

The accolade showcased RTPD’s commitment to health and safety, which extends beyond the confines of the organization. The department aspires to set an example for the industry, inspiring others to adopt best practices and prioritize the well-being of their workforce. RTPD remains dedicated to sharing its knowledge and experiences with others, collaborating to improve industrywide health and safety standards.

The RoSPA Gold Award given to RTPD is a testament to their unwavering dedication to health and safety.

It serves as a reminder that safety must always remain at the forefront of every decision and action undertaken.
