Abdulkarim A. Al Ghamdi has been appointed executive vice president of Gas, after serving as senior vice president of Project Management since July 2020. He had previously served as vice president of Power Systems and held a number of leadership positions within various business lines.

 

Al Ghamdi has more than 20 years of experience of making measurable contributions toward Aramco’s strategic and commercial goals and has served in various areas and organizations, including Gas, Distribution, Refining, Engineering Services, and Joint Ventures. He has also led several successful transactions.

 

Al Ghamdi previously served as an executive assistant with the Petron Corporation in the Philippines and completed an assignment with the Accelerated Transformation Program office.

 

He has also managed various departments, including Process and Control Systems, the Berri Gas Plant, the ‘Uthmaniyah Gas Plant, and Facilities Planning. Al Ghamdi was also acting chief engineer ahead of his assignment with Power Systems and Project Management.

 

Al Ghamdi holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and an M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He also attended the Harvard Business School Executive Program for Leadership Development.

 

Al Ghamdi also holds various Board Member positions within Government societies. He is the former chairman of the Fadhili Cogeneration Company, the National Power Academy, and Aramco Power. Al Ghamdi is also a former member of the Board of Saudi Aramco & Dow Chemical Company (SADARA), the Marafiq Company, and the Power Cogeneration Plant Company.

 

Currently, Al Ghamdi is a member of the Board of the Saudi Electricity Company, the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, Saudi Aramco TOTAL Refining and Petrochemical (SATORP), in addition to the Jazan Integrated Gasification and Power Company.
