OE and Quality Management
Aramco collaborates with Japan Cooperation Center for Petroleum on operational excellence
Fifteen company professionals have already completed the “Operational Excellence and Quality Management” training.
Aramco’s Operational Excellence Department (OED) has collaborated with the Japan Cooperation Center for Petroleum and Sustainability Energy, as well as our Academic Programs and Partnerships Department, to customize a program in “Operational Excellence and Quality Management.”
The program will further develop Aramco’s OE capabilities — 15 professionals from various admin areas have already completed the training in Japan. Including on-site visits and utilizing Japan’s rich experience of improving processes and using quality management tools and methodologies, the program will be repeated next year.
Japanese quality principles
“Japanese quality principles are known for their process-oriented approach, customer-centric strategies, and gradual and practical improvements that sustain growth and value,” said Anwar M. Alzahrani, OED director.
It is an excellent opportunity for our professionals to attend this program, which could help in further improving operational excellence implementation in Aramco.

Moraya S. Algahtani, OED principal professional, said, “Such a customized program is intended to sharpen Aramco’s operational excellence professionals’ skills and expose them to international best practices, as well as provide an opportunity to benchmark Aramco’s systems with world-class companies.”
Striving for the highest levels
OE is an overarching framework that integrates many existing management systems and best practices to consistently and systematically achieve and sustain industry leading performance in terms of reliability, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and profitability; while striving for the highest levels of performance in health, safety, and the environment.
Aramco’s OED strives to optimize company processes and deliver an agile, flexible, and efficient organization, standardizing existing areas of excellence within the company and establishing them as minimum requirements for all organizations to achieve. This helps company organizations to identify missing best practices and processes deemed essential to achieving and sustaining best performance, providing a structured approach or common language to measure performance, sustain improvements, and enhance knowledge sharing.
