Your Voice: The beauty of Saudi beaches

When it comes to planning a beach vacation, many people think of the Caribbean, Hawaii, or other tropical islands. But why not consider the stunning beauty of the beaches in Saudi Arabia?

Boasting majestic views and plenty of activities, Saudi’s picturesque beaches are the perfect destinations for relaxing trips. From the Red Sea on the West Coast to the Arabian Gulf on the East Coast, the Kingdom has countless captivating options. Whether it’s pristine white sands or proximity to lush green vegetation, each beach has something unique.

Although Saudi Arabia is a country of fascinating attractions — from ancient cities to remarkable mountain ranges — its beaches are already among the most popular tourist destinations. With crystal-clear waters and inviting shores, they’re ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and other activities, including surfing, beach volleyball, sailing, and speed boating. Numerous resort and hotel options mean beachgoers can find accommodation that suits their budget.

Ras Tanura is one of the most popular beach destinations in Saudi Arabia. Located on the eastern coast and renowned for its white sand and clear waters, it’s a perfect setting for a beach holiday. The beach houses in the Aramco community provide a resort experience. They feature fully equipped kitchens, private balconies, and spacious bedrooms, with a perfect view of the sea. Waves lapping the shore make for a relaxing background soundtrack.

My family had the opportunity to stay at a Ras Tanura beach house for two nights. We particularly liked our private deck overlooking the ocean — the perfect place to watch the water all day long, and to use the barbeque to grill for a family gathering. There is also an array of restaurants a short walk away, for those who don’t want to cook, in addition to a range of activities, including a water park, complimentary electric bikes, and mini golf, not to mention kayaking and surfing.

As with all beach trips, it’s important to keep safety in mind — wear sunscreen, for example, and stay hydrated. Swim only where it’s safe to do so. And be aware of local culture and customs.

So, whether looking for a cultural experience in an ancient city, the excitement of a desert adventure, or a relaxing beach break, stay safe and enjoy Saudi. There is something for everyone in this fascinating Kingdom.
