In 2021, Aramco marked several milestones.

The most significant was announcing our ambition to achieve Net Zero Scope 1 and  Scope 2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions from wholly owned and operated assets by 2050.

Other key achievements included landmark transactions to monetize our pipeline infrastructure. We also started development of the vast Jafurah unconventional gas field, which has the potential to make Saudi Arabia one of the world’s leading gas producers by 2050.

Operationally, we had no interruptions, maintaining a high level of reliability despite pandemic-related challenges.

Financially, we delivered strong earnings and cash flows as well as consistent dividends based on higher prices and improved downstream margins as a result of the global economic recovery.

As we look ahead, our growth strategy includes developing a significant hydrogen export capability and also  becoming a global leader in carbon capture and storage. We will also be increasing our liquids to chemical production and raising our crude oil maximum sustainable capacity.

Events around the world in the past year, as well as more recently, have clearly reinforced the fact that the global energy transition will be complex. What is also clear is that Aramco is coming from a position of strength as we continue to invest and grow our business.

And our people are a key element of this strength. Each and every day, they work to deliver the reliable and affordable energy that supports sustainable progress, keeps economies functioning, and enables billions of people to have more productive lives.
