Ahmad A. Al Sa’adi, Aramco’s senior vice president of Technical Services, spoke earlier this week at the Dakar Rally for the unveiling of the races first hydrogen-fueled vehicles. The truck was the product of Aramco’s partnership with Gaussin.

“Our goal in participating in this event is to sponsor hydrogen-fueled vehicles. We believe hydrogen is one of the future solutions for more efficient and lower-carbon fuel,” said Al Sa’adi.

“Our partnership with Gaussin has man aspects. Alongside the sponsorship at Dakar Rally, we have two other elements. They are localizing the production of (hydrogen) trucks and improving the efficiency of hydrogen engines,” he added.

The Dakar Rally continues until Jan. 14.
