Society of Petroleum Engineers honors AbdulHameed A. Al-Rushaid

AbdulHameed A. Al-Rushaid, Aramco’s Drilling and Workover vice president, recently received the Stephen A. Holditch Visionary Leadership Award at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition recently in Dubai. 

 

The prestigious award recognizes individuals who have devoted significant time, effort, thought and action, and have demonstrated exceptional visionary leadership resulting in a lasting and momentous impact.

 

This impact was demonstrated in his significant role in Aramco’s digital transformation and Fourth Industrial Revolution, which has had tangible results in terms of exceeding all delivery key performance indicators. 

 

Al-Rushaid has also been a major advocate of investing in technology and endorsed investment in startups through Aramco Ventures. Additionally, he pushed to couple technology deployment with innovation. As a result, the number of patents filed and granted in 2020 reached a new record in the organization’s history. 

 

Moreover, Al-Rushaid contributed to the development and fulfillment of the Competitive Saudi Energy Sector Strategy, as he played a key role in establishing the Aramco Rowan Drilling Company (ARO) whose board he chairs. Additionally, he chairs several boards of directors of Aramco joint ventures and is a member of others. 

 

Al-Rushaid participated in launching Saudi Arabian Drilling Academy (SADA) and he is chairing its Board of Trustees.
