Drilling was completed on Aramco’s first offshore well at Safaniyah on Aug. 15, 1951.
Drilling was completed on Aramco’s first offshore well at Safaniyah on Aug. 15, 1951. The crude oil from Safaniyah No. 1 flows into a barge several hundred yards away. The drilling operation ended more than 200 days after it began. The well was brought in some weeks earlier, but the Producing Department decided to drill deeper for exploratory purposes.
