Public Relations film producer John Farrow (wearing white ghutra and agal) prepares a set and crew to shoot a sequence in 1955 in which Exploration’s mobile caravan boldly crosses the trackless desert. To the left, just out of the shot, Capt. Page Smith, pilot of a chartered PAA DC-6, helped out by sweeping the sand clean of unwanted tire tracks left by previous takes. The reflectors were used to redirect sunlight while filming.
